The Admin and Meetings committees have been working on the spring meeting planning. It is expected that the meeting will be in late April in Dallas, Texas. The hotel under consideration is near Dallas Love Airport (aka "Southwest Field), and near the Stemmons Freeway on Mockingbird Rd. It is a very accessible location by car or plane. For those arriving via DFW airport, it is accessible via rent car or airport limousine. April 24-25 (Friday/Saturday), or April 30-May 1 (Friday/Saturday), are being considered as likely dates. Does anyone favor one over the other? We haven't looked at special holidays (Easter, whatever?) or other problems yet. Does anyone have any input on favored or disfavored dates. We are expecting participation from various manufacturers, which to be fair to them pending confirmation, I won't mention by name, will likely be those we "all" want to talk with. :-) Hotel costs will be low... only $59.95 per night, and food availability ranges from Jack in the Box to Reunion Tower, or Dallas Restaurant Row. The hotel provides transportation within 5 miles of the hotel, which includes downtown Dallas, and "out the freeways." Of course that is shared transportation and a Cab or other wheels may be preferred. Sightseeing is available including the Kennedy Memorial, and the "Texas School Book Depository" aka Assassination Museum, and Dealy Plaza and "Grassy Knoll".. Dallas is easy to get to from much of the Midwest, and Southwest Airlines goes places you would never guess so you can get some really good prices from locations on this map http://www.southwest.com/travel_center/routemap.html. (Southwest isn't just Southwest anymore!) So, give us any input have, make suggestions, or alert us to our potential errors. Also mark you calendars and plan whether to drive or fly.
