Suneel,
I tried the command you suggested.
The response was as follows:

Transaction information for database 'ModusDB'.
Oldest active transaction:
SPID (server process ID) : 61
UID (user ID) : -1
Name : implicit_transaction
LSN : (16936:112486:1)
Start time : Jan 19 2004 1:14:43:717PM
DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact your system administrator.

This looks fine to me, given that the query was run at 1:14 pm.
Is that correct?

Thanks for your help.

Lapo

Lapo,

Try issuing the following command to see if you have any open
transactions. If so we need to investigate what is causing this as it
will mean that all subsequent commands get logged and hence the log gets
full quickly.

Unfortunately, we already did this. It seemed to resolve the problem
(yesterday) but started failing again after a few hours.

Also, even after shrinking the tempdb (as suggested by a previous
poster), the problem continues to reoccur with
"The log file for database 'tempdb' is full. Back up the transaction
log for the database to free up some log space.."
errors showing up in the SQL log every 10 - 15 minutes.

Thanks,
Lapo
