Rob,
I am planning to leave the adapter plugged in to the port. I always have the
phone with me so I have a diagnostic tool at my finger tips.
That is what I have been doing for the last 4 or 5 years. Really saved my
bacon a few years ago when we were on our way back from France, and the engine
warning light came on in Belgium, along with the engine starting to misbehave
(ran OK at proper revs, stuttered at lower revs). Out came my Nokia linux
phone, and voila - "lambda sensor error". I could clear the error code, but
it came back. Knowing it was just the lambda sensor made me feel it would
not cause further damage to drive home carefully - had I not known what was
causing the error code I might have had to resort to being recovered.

Will these bluetooth things work with Linux laptops? Do they need
special software?
Ian (who doesn’t use one of these fancy phones!)
