Background to Morgan LMP2 cars
"LE MANS" PROTOTYPE 2 ("LM" P2): open or closed (*) car, run by teams
independent of manufacturers and/or engine suppliers.
Adhering to strict cost criteria: chassis price capped at €355,000; engine
price capped at €75,000. In 2012, six chassis and three engines are available,
so in theory, eighteen different combination possibilities!
Each team must have a minimum of one driver at the level of "Silver" or
"Bronze" (amateur).
The LMP2 Morgan entries in European Endurance races are a partnership between
Morgan and OAK however you interpret that.
The 2012 OAK Pescarolo developed LMP2 cars are being entered as Morgan LMP2s,
manufactured by Onroak Automotive, OAK which is based at the Technoparc des 24
Heures in Le Mans.
