There are several, nay many differences. The Series 2 has c205bhp compared to the c223bhp of the Series 1. Road tax isn't as simple as two rates, because the emissions figs changed for the Roadster, and the rules changed on 2006. I don't have chapter & verse to hand, but extra high level bands were introduced in 2006, and the Roadster was in one of the top bands for a short period, before emissions were cut slightly to get it into the band below. The gearing is different, the S1 has a Getrag box with direct drive on 5th and a 3.07 diff. S2 has a Ford box with an overdrive 5th and 3.7 diff. All figs from memory - Brain may be along in a while to add the detail. The S2 is slightly higher geared in 5th but not so much as you'd worry about it. And in my view, the S1 dash with two main dials straight ahead with four minor dials in a row over the gearstick is how they all should be. So that makes me a strong advocate for the Series 1 Roadster. A good pal of mine has decided to return to the world of Morgan after an absence of many years. His previous Mog was a +8 so he remembers the little foibles of Morgan ownership. He looked at the new roadster but does not like the pedal arrangement, he has driven my '98 4-4 and prefers that layout. He has settled on acquiring a second-hand Roadster no older than 5-6 years. Are there any issues/problems he should look out for?
