Hi. Im setting up a smallish monitoring system for about ~100 machines (sparc/solaris & intel/linux). Currently, people in the company are using Openview but i didnt find it very good for stuff i really need to maintain (and i can say with a good confidence, i dont know crap about ov)
Reason im converting the system comes down to company politics and that i tend to like oss + there's some really nice alert things i fell in love with mon. Anyway, as we have now this openview/snmp (net-snmpd to be exact) configuration setup, i think the migration will be quite easy since most of the monitors scripts use snmp to make the queries (not to mention, i can brew up more with perl). Anyway, i would like to hear any gotcha's and/or tips on how to run mon in this scale. For example, im going to gather data of the machines with "non-monitor-monitor", shouldnt be hard to implement. How about distributed configuration and so on. How well working are those web interfaces ? Anything, write me just to say hi if thats what you want ;) -- | ,_, Jani Mikkonen, Portal System Administrator, +358456700349 |(O,O) [EMAIL PROTECTED] |( ) Public pgp key @ http://www.mikkonen.org/jani/keyw.html +-"-"-------] this signature is a virus, please make me your .sig. |
