please *don't* post completely different questions as response to other user's 
question (in this case even twice - memory report and SMPP) - send standalone 
mail and do not mix the threads.


Regarding the log file … you can set the logfile in the monit configuration 
file using the "set logfile <path>" (no "-l" is then necessary). The command 
line option "-l" can be used as well, it makes however sense only when you 
start Monit daemon - the output which you provided shows, that Monit is running 
already and if it was not started with the "-l" and the "set logfile" is 
missing in monitrc, then it is not configured to log to this file (you can 
verify this by check the monit arguments with "ps -ef | grep monit").

Possible solutions:
1.) either add the "set logfile ..." to monitrc and restart monit
2.) or stop monit daemon and start it again with the "-l …" option
