double clicked on MonoTouch.1.1.1.pkg to start installer,
went through normally until the configuring files stage.
Noticed that Confguring files stage was taking a long time.
Looked to see what processes I had running and noticed iPhone Simulator was
running.
Quit iPhone Simulator,
Immediately on quitting iPhone Simulator, installer proceeded past configuring
files but reported a failed installation.
Started installer again and this time it completed successfully.
Reproducible: Didn't try
