Hi All,
I've been running some Mono vs .Net benchmark tests for a while now. The
tests are simple, have two identical boxes, one running Windows Server 2003 and
the other Redhat Fedora Core 6. Deploy a VB.Net Webservice (Compiled in VS2005)
which accepts a Data Provider name, Connection String and a SQL Query. The
webservice will then connect to the database using the given Data Provider,
Connection string and run the SQL Query. It also has an option to execute x
amount of iterations and report the times.
I've tried running tests using the System.Data.SqlClient as well as the
MySql.Data.MySqlClient (version 5.0.7).
Both Mono tests ran significantly slower when the performance is compared
from version 1.2.3.50 to 1.2.4. (in MySql up to 17 times slower) Are there any
new configuration settings I am missing? Can anyone recommend a profiler to use
for debug purposes so that I can identify where the bottleneck is?
I'm using a Apache / Mod Mono configuration. Thoughts / Ideas appreciated.
Regards,
Chee Keong, Chan
