Hi, We have services running via mono-service on production servers, and all we did was follow this mono page: http://www.mono-project.com/FAQ:_Security#Does_SSL_works_for_SMTP.2C_like_GMail_.3F
I think what did the trick for us, was running with the --machine option - do this as root though.
