I haven't gone through and look at the x86 emulator thoroughly on the Mac.  The 
testing that I did was with the Android 2.3 x86 emulator running on Windows7 
x64 and running MfA 4.0.6.  All of my project settings were fairly standard.  I 
wasn't specifying the version of Android or had anything special in my 
projects.  I tested everything with the Android emulator in both x17 and r18.
The first suggestion would be to post the logcat output.  The second suggestion 
would be to verify that you have the purchased version on your mac.  I was 
getting a similar error when I was using the trial version.  JPobst pointed 
this out.
