I had the same issue, but offline activation will only help for activation.
My guess is that the "Add in manager" and the Check for Update features are
not working as well.

I suggest installing Squid (with SquidMan) as a local proxy to your
corporate proxy.  This way all the transaction will properly route as
Monodevelop does not use the proxy settings from your Mac.

This could be a nice feature to had a UI to specify the proxy settings in
monodevelop as more and more corporate users are going to be in that
situation
