Another option is to set the HTTP_PROXY environment variable which Mono (and thus MonoDevelop) will pick up and handle.
At some point in the future, this hack won't be necessary (I've already implemented CFProxySupport bindings in MonoMac, but MonoDevelop needs to link with it).
