As per subject line, the Intellisense is broken when using MonoDevelop 4.8 Beta 2 and Monotouch 4.2. I get a popup windows with a pink line saying "No suggestions" and a second line saying "Gathering class information".
I only upgraded because of the beachball issue with 4.1.1.1.
