> Curious... why is FF4 so evil?

Don't want to get into a big off-topic thing, so let me just stick
with:

· breaks JREs
· various kinds of memory corruption
· laughably choppy rendering with some video cards

Since we run a web app and are known to have been OS- and
browser-agnostic for many years, we had a chance of our users trusting
us on this one. A couple of months ago, we sent out a mail blast to
our (then-current) userbase telling them firmly not to upgrade, for
their own protection as well as ours. This was after some support
tickets resulted in multi-hour troubleshooting/restore sessions (a
couple of local house calls, even) that we really can't afford to do
in quantity!

Of course, now we have new users, and many had already upgraded before
they started with us. So it's a losing battle unless we can get them
to go with the 5 beta, which in our tests (same lab hardware) is not
prone to disaster (or at least not the same disaster). YMMV, but FF 4
is a clearcut dud from our perspective.
