dear Mopo - ive been watching some posts about Eugene Hughes,,,
and about the need to email when orders are late...
well first as one that has had many deaths of friend and relatives and
pets,,
i must say that when it its... that last thing you say to yourself is..
wow Im late for fed ex... that is unless you put business before Life...
see many years back we did a order for Universal.. and one of our Dogs
died.. it was a collie named henna.. she was a very good friend,,, and
could sense when I was stressed and would come over and it was liek she
consoled me.. well we got a call and the buyer at Universal asked if the
orde was done... we said we wer almost done but the Dog died,,,
he said: "i dont care about your frickin dog just make the order"!
about a month later that Buyers Dad died,, they said he was so shook up
he had a stroke.. and was gone from work for like several months,,,
when tradgedy stike and they always do,, like the California fires
awhile back it sometimes takes that before we see the inmportatnt things
like Life
and family and friends.. withut that business is meaninless, collections
empty..
for example.. I have many orders and amd backed up... However Tonight
my son came home and showed me that all the film schools are having a
convention in Toledo this week... at the meeting speaking tonight was
Laslo Kovacs asc.. and Darrin Okatda asc.. two great cinematographers
matter of fact Lazlo is one of my favorites ever!! he did paper moon ,
Ghostbusters , five easy pieces, easy ride and on and on...
well,,, I could have stayed home packed orders and worked... or as I did
say.. wait this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and see Lazlo...
for my son wh begind film school... this was like meeting a God....
and we both left Hyperventillateing.. as he said some incredible
things..
and guess what at 10:00 am hes giveing a Free class on Lighting....
Guess who isnt going to work at the art museum..... My son is jumping
out of his skin with delight,,, and Darrin who did mean girls and
dr,dolittle also was full of great advise...
so 1st instead of everyone ridiculing Eugene for being late on a damn
linenback Job., how about sending him some emails showing some
understanding and sympathy,,,,,,,,
geeze..... I promice if I croak or get real sick my Orders will be
slower than normal... OK>>>
and remember when tragedy strikes you that #1 is your family and health
and God
# 2 is Business and orders. # 3 all the other stuff
also....
remember Miracles cannot be timed, triggered or calculated...
but if you ask occasionaly they seem to be granted,,, why?/ i dont
know..
like tonight,,, as we left the conferance... we found a big bag of
camera tripods and light stands in a bag on the middle of the street,,,
well we considered keeping them as they were lost and nice pro gear,,
and my son said wow I could use extra gear,,
but we talked about it and we agreed that if it was us we would be sad
and wish it back.. and I found a business card inside and the owners
name.. so we have sent a email , voice mail and hope to give it back
tommorrow..
so in this guys case... he gets a Miracle!.. see what I nean??
and I actually shook Lazlo Kovacs hand...!!! i told him I have aa 1925
opening day of the ASC ( american society of cinematogarphers )
magazine... I told him I would bring it and show him it..
what a Joy and great opportunity... did you know hes Russian??
i was amazed.
anyway lets all Give Eugene some time to grieve about the recent loss
of
loved ones.. Im sure the posters will still be there and he may do a
better job once hes had time to rest and relect..
It takes time to get through loss... many suffer for years some never
recover
we all need to understand that and help.
haste makes waste.. how true..
best, Tom
