Nobody axed me but here it is...

I've been getting work done by Eugene since his days in the midwest.  It's gotten consistently better and better and I've progressively trusted him with my more cherished items and not been disappointed by the quality of his work.  I've referred many people to him and plugged him on the e-waves as being worth checking out.

He currently has had 5 posters of my babies since mid-May.  I got an update in Mid July saying they would hopefully be done in a few weeks (!).  As I had an important trade involving two of the posters I literally begged to get them completed asap and was told they would hopefully get sent out "next week".  Well, needless to say I still haven't received them and the trade is now thouroghly blown.

Am I worried that I won't get them back?  No.

Am I worried that they won't be professionally restored when they do come back?  No.

Did I get a great price?  Yes (but have learned a healthy lesson that everything has it's "cost").

Am I annoyed that it cost me a trade I really, really wanted to do?  You bet.

I think the relationship between collectors and conservators is much like the one betwixt patients and doctors and when the trust that has been built up over many years is breached, it takes some getting used to.

I agree with those that have said that a simple explanation as to what was/is going on (in private, not necessarily posted to this list) would go a long way to allaying any fears.  I can be quite understanding/gullible to the circumstances of others.  Four or five words would eliminate this whole brouhaha.

(Who wishes he could travel as much as his posters!)
