It Just May Get Worse - or - Better???

***Unpaid Items: Buyer Management Buyer Block
Preferences Coming Soon***
Date: 08/09/04 Time: 09:30:43 AM PDT

We are pleased to announce that Buyer Management
Buyer Block Preferences, a new feature that allows
sellers to have more control over who can bid on their
listings, will be available in the next few days. This
will allow sellers to run their businesses the way
that suits them best, while helping to reduce
post-transaction issues and potential Unpaid Items.
Sellers will be able to turn on Buyer Management by
modifying the Buyer Block Preferences area in the
Seller Preferences section of My eBay.

Buyer Management enables sellers to block buyers:

>From a country to which they have not designated in
Sell Your Item or other listing tools they will ship.
With a net negative feedback score.
With two Unpaid Item strikes in the last 30 days.
Sellers can choose whether to apply any combination of
the three blocks to their listings, which will take
effect on any items listed after the block is turned
on. Buyers who have been blocked by the seller will
see a message showing the reason why their bid has
been blocked.

Sellers can also add specific buyers to their Buyer
Block Exemption List. For example, if a buyer tries to
bid on an item and gets blocked, they can contact the
seller to request permission to bid. If the seller
agrees, they can add the buyer to their Exemption List
so that the blocks will not apply for that buyer.
Please note: While helpful in reducing the likelihood
of Unpaid Items, Buyer Block Preferences may also
limit the amount of bidders on your listing.

We will be hosting an online community workshop on
Wednesday, August 11th, from 14:00 to 15:00 PT to
answer your questions about this feature, review
eBays other initiatives in this area, and show how
you can minimize Unpaid Items. We have also updated
the Ensuring Payment section of Seller Central to
include information about this new feature.

Regards,
eBay
