I have the greatest respect for you. But I think I must not have made myself clear. I have a "real worry" over getting undeserved negatives in retaliation because of the injustice of it, not because getting one (or 800) negatives would lower my percentage.
I very much care about "doing the right thing" in my dealings with my customers and my consignors and I want to deal with companies that also care. eBay has proven to me in a thousand ways that they only care about money. They want to be the Wal-Mart of the Internet, the place where you go to get great buys on NEW items. They figure companies will give those great buys on everything from brand-new TVs to brand-new cars to whatever because of the greatly lowered overhead (kind of like a Sam's Club without even the showroom) and THEY MAY WELL BE RIGHT! If they can capture even a tiny percentage of the "new" item business, they will have a multi-billion dollar business.
It is their right to do this if they choose. But they have almost completely abandoned collectibles sellers (with their insane elimination of categories, etc) and we need to recognize this and move on to new venues that do support us.
Whether it is a "movie poster only" site like Movie Poster Bid or Jon Warren's new venture, or an "all-collectibles" site that caters to anyone who sells vintage items, only time can say. But it WON'T be eBay. The moment a venue comes along that I believe can support my business, I will jump ship.
Some of you reading this may find that hard to believe. But I have made many 180 degree turns in my life, and they worked out. eBay does not care about me, so why stick with them?

11 negatives out of 88,615 and now you have a "real worry" that you may get some more negatives. You can get over 800 negatives and still have 99 per cent positive.
Ebay is fantastic. Without it you would not have sold anywhere near the dollar volume that you do today. Movie Collectors World, shows, live auctions and your mail/telephone auctions could never approach your current total success.
I (and everyone else) could never have achieved the fantastic collection in my possession. Ebay has opened the world to my home.
Does ebay have flaws? Absolutely. their public relations is terrible, they are autocratic, they cannot be reached, they allow people to be cheated without giving sufficient support and help and we all know the feedback system is flawed.
However, the time has come to stop bashing ebay and be thankful it exists. You have to work within the system. You have to be extra careful from whom you buy, etc., etc., etc. I have many ideas of how to improve the system but would be wasting my time writing them because they all cost money. Ebay will not do any of these things because it affects their bottom line. So take it for what it is worth and be thankful ebay is here. I love it. Claude
