Mopoer's of repute. Erich brought up an
issue of some nimrod back water dealer who would rather continue to
stay the course of misrepresentation, or lets call it what it is F R A U
D, by disavowing published reference books and experts in the trade as
baloney. Okay, you can lead a whore to water but you can't
make her think. I think most of us have lobbed a friendly
correction to a seller on Ebay and have been met with what occurs the
majority of the time, a heartfelt thank you, and a correction
that soon follows.
Well I have a problem and would appreciate others
opinions. What if the error or in this case numerous errors is with
an auction house of considerable pristige? I am speaking
specifically of the Bonham's Butterfields auction coming up. I don't
know the auction co-ordinator at all. More to the point,
I know I'd feel more confident with a MOPO weigh
in before stepping out in such a declarative way and saying
"hey you goofed" . At least maybe this would
save some friends of MOPO from placing a bid on something less than
anticipated.
THESE ARE MOSTLY THE ITALIAN SPAGHETTI WESTERNS
6142 Fistful Dollars Italian almost sure a
re-release
6144 Good Bad Ugly locandina An 80's
re-release
6145 Good Bad Ugly 2 foglio
a re-release
6146 Once Upon Time West Definitely The Real Thing
6147 For Few Dollars More Possibly the
re-release Uneasy
6148 The size is throwing me but still feels like
the re-release
6149 Bingo its good
6157 Treasure Sierra Madre this
style was on Ebay once as the re-release who knows
Danish
6254 Amarcord--- let me really trip on my hubris
and make the argument that this isn't even a release poster, its like
a poster you can get for cheap at poster stores. Or maybe it was a
90's RR
6187 Shoeshine I don't think so
the logo isn't even the same
6188 Bicycle Thief Definitely not the
original release
Now am I totally off base here? If not I
still it got you to look at the auction.....Some kickass Balisteres
whoa! But the question is shouldn't we as a group,
the poster elite as it were, say something? Bruce Hershenson when
corrected all but paints in neon his listings with amendments on those rare
occasions his original listing is a bit fallacious, which is highly
commendable. I mean, its impossible to know it all (however many
claim to). To err is to be human. To err with extreme prejudice is
fraud.
in closing and totally deviating from above subject, a
robust round of applause to Abe and his peerless auction of spectacular lobby
cards, very well presented, photographed and inventory that makes
even the most jaded become giddy and damn, very aggressive! Bitter
tea anyone?
