Michael,
Glad to finally know your name. I don't think you can change
the member name you used to sign up to MOPO with -- but if you send a
message to Scott Burns, he can probably assign you a new membership with a new
name of your choice and cancel the old one. If you don't want to do that, just
start signing your messages at the end with "mike" or whatever (I always slap
"JR" at the end of mine). Me, I like people like yourself who are willing
to post with questions or comments that might not be so popular with some and
sometimes go against the flow or convention. That having been
said..
...if you're going to do that (and I hope you continue) you
need to double check your steps sometimes and try to focus statements so they
don't inadvertently create an effect that you might not have been looking for...
like you can see if you look closely that Zeev wasn't making any kind of blanket
endorsement of any dealers -- what he said was "I don't doubt for one
second the veracity of all your accounts, what I found a bit grating was your
mention of MOPO and "unscrupulous dealers " in the same breath." In other words
he was just objecting to you connecting the prejudicial term "unscrupulous" with
MOPO so closely... like, it may have seemed to some that you were saying that
MOPO dealers are unscrupulous as opposed to non-MOPO dealers who aren't. Except,
of course, that there is no such thing as a MOPO dealer. The dealers who post to
MOPO also post to Movie Poster Talk, the Style B list and lots of other places.
So, saying that they "stick together" on MOPO can be seen by some as
a kind of a weird blindside slap on MOPO as a list. I haven't seen the
dealers behave any differently here than they do on any other list. Hey,
really, if there is a place where the dealers are always undercutting each other
and sniping at each other and generally at each other's throats all the time...
well, cool! Please send me the URL so I can watch -- sounds like great
entertainment -- even better than a cat fight!
