IMHO linenbacking is only ever needed in extremes cases of pre-50s 40s
material
that is crispy or in bad repair structurally. posters after the 50s ae on
coated paper stocks like enamel coated and dont seem to have issues like the
folded fibre papers of say stone litho.
the double sided poster should be left alone since most will be in mint shape i
suggest storeing flat
in a mylar sleeve in a drawer like flate files.. or in a inert acid free tube.
unless you have a humid room or lots of sun// these items will be fine for I
would say 50-100 years
anything else is overkill and you will spend more on archival thiis and that
then the posters value,
as for resale value most collectors and dealers like it as nuetral and as
issued as possible.
linenbacking is reserved for posters that are falling apart or on way to ad may
need to be touched up with repairs, then linenbacking is a a great addition for
a buyer not to be concerned that 1/2 the poster will
fall off.
the less you do the less you need to worry about being a deterant in a future
sale.
somepeople actually prefer unrestored. especially old tube radio buyers Im
told.
best, Tom
