THE BAD NEWS BEARS is being directed by Richard Linklater and my bet is that the local Austin boy will do something creative and fun with it. cf SCHOOL OF ROCK.
I have nothing against remakes when they add something fresh to the experience. But often they don't.

Vent away, Erik! We all do on this very topic quite often these days.
'Making it relevant for a new generation' is the usual cry of those in favour of the stready stream of re-makes.
Hmmmm, not entirely my viewpoint.

My God, man...someone recently pointed me in the direction of the Moviefone website to check out the new Star Wars trailer and while browsing upcoming titles I was struck by the sheer amount of unoriginal movies coming out:
Bewitched, The Bad News Bears, The Longest Yard, The Pink Panther, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, War of the Worlds, Herbie....!!!
I'm disgusted that Hollywood is churning out this crap and even more disgusted that people are going to pay to see 'em.
Do writers nowadays just turn on the TV or reach for a DVD for inspiration?
Sorry, I guess this wasn't exactly movie poster related but sheesh, I had to vent.
