JR, yep, wire transfers. In common use in Australia, New Zealand, the
UK, Europe, Japan (not so sure about the rest of Asia), and Canada I'm
led to believe (one of our Canadian members may be able to confirm
this), but not the US. As you say it is very expensive there, but here
in Oz, and from what I can glean, pretty much the rest of the world,
they are FREE, or just about free.
Do American's not trust each other or something? I've given out my bank
details to dozens and dozens of people, and likewise, plenty more have
freely given me theirs. I've never had a problem.
I think it's just about the best thing ever invented. It used to be a
hassle when people didn't accept my cheques, now it's a hassle if they
won't give their bank details!
