Jack,
I'm sure you're right to some extent -- the internet has done that to all
hobbies and even throughout retailing and industry -- but I also think some
falloff in attendance would have happened even without eBay, because the price
of travel, lodging and eating out has gone up so much in the last 10 years that
many people would have cut back on taking as many trips to shows anyway. I was
never much of a show-goer myself, so I don't miss it. Even so, the really big
shows/live auctions still seem to be bringing people in.

Subject: [MOPO] MOPO?Did eBay kill the
movie poster shows?
I always looked forward to going and seeing and enjoying
the company of my fellow movie poster collectors. Selling and buying, eating,
having a beer etc at the Ray Courts shows. Does anyone think that attendance
has dropped at these shows since eBay? I know that I do since it has become
near impossible to sell posters at the prices we used to get. those unique
pieces of time machine paper from the 40's, 50's etc. It kinda sucks that
we're now writing to each other about our auctions etc. comments?
And thanks for the last round of buying from movpost... I am starting a
relist of unsold 50's posters reduced to 12.95 (60's as well) first poster on
is Jack London's "Wolf Larson" a fine piece of period art especially for the
London fan as a gift or what have you
Greetings
Jack Gold/ movpost
