I'm not certain it's the first poster I ever bought, but it may be, and it's the first poster I remember buying.  At the Columbus Cinevent in 1970 I paid $175, for a stone lithograph 1-sheet of Charlie Chaplin's one reel short, CRUEL, CRUEL LOVE.  It was Chaplin's eighth film, released March 28, 1914.  His first film had been released February 2, 1914, just 52 days earlier.  It is the earliest extant Chaplin poster that I know of.  (I have seen a stock poster that advertises an earlier short, but that might have been printed at a later date).  The poster shows a "pre-tramp" Chaplin, romancing his leading lady.  I remember the purchase vividly, because some fellow film buffs, mercilessly ridiculed me for spending so much money for a poster!  Why, I could have bought a 16mm print of the film for less money!  I still have the poster.
