I have
been moved by the outpouring of grief for Dennis Thomas on both MOPO
and NSGF. I knew Dennis just ever so briefly as he had consigned with Heritage
in one of our early auctions. I have had the greatest amount of respect for
the man as he consigned some nice material and some of the items did not do as
well as he had expected, but he never brought that up after the sale. I noticed
that he posted to one of the discussion groups that he was pleased with the way
the consignment was handled and felt Heritage had done a very good job.
Never did he say a word about some of the items not doing well. In my book, that
has always been a clear indicator of the type of guy that he was. He
realized that the results were no one's fault, but just perhaps the market at
the time. He was a genuinely nice guy and seemed to understand the risks
involved in any business. I think this speaks so well of the man. He was
a gentleman in my books and I could not be more sorry to hear of his
untimely passing. What a great loss to us all. My heart goes out to his
family.
Rest
in Peace, Dennis.
Respectfully,
Grey
Smith
