That had to be the saddest, most pathetic Oscar moment I've ever heard. It even beats out Quentin Tarantino's partner Roger Avery, who made his exit from the stage after winning Best Original Screenplay by saying he "had to go take a leak."
Sore loser indeed! REGARDLESS of the tone or meaning of the film, REGARDLESS of how many promo DVDs were given out, there is absolutely NO REASON to blame the Academy or its voters for choosing Crash over Brokeback Mountain. This is being a sore loser, plain and simple. One of every five films win. That's the bottom line - not every film can win. And to belittle the winning film by calling it "Trash" is just plain malice. To think that any film is a "given" in any category is just plain idiocy. Sure, I voted for Ang Lee for Best Director - simply because something like 87% of the
D.G.A. Award Winners go onto get Best Director. It doesn't mean that it's set in stone.
Maybe she should be bitching out Focus and Paramount for not sending out as many DVDs instead of pretending that Brokeback, without any doubt, should have taken Best Picture. What vanity!
Unbelievable. And Sad.
