I learned as a young child that when you lose anything.. be it a
basketball game, a baseball game or even just rock-paper-scissors,
that the least you can do is lose like a winner. You say good game..
and ask for a rematch.
Miss I'm-A-Stuck_up-B, apparently has had no such training..
Even when you play poker.. have you ever seen someone on the World
Series of Poker tell his opponent who beat him what a sucker he was
to win? No one does that, well except for Phil Helmuth maybe. You say
"good hand, good luck. I hope you win. See you next year"
The sour grapes of losing this award is too much for this witch, and
she lashes out in a very unsportsmanlike manner. I feel sorry for
her. She is, as we would say in poker speak, "On Tilt". She may be so
angry that she could spiral downward and possibly never write another
fine book or story because her anger will block the words.
Of course, I love the comparison "three awards, putting it on equal
footing with King Kong"..
Honey, King Kong will be enjoyed by a much greater audience, even if
it is an inferior film, and by your standard - Kong might be the best
picture of the year!
