Actually, the Academy has a marketing archive. Charlie Powell, my old
mentor started it. If any of you dealers or collectors wanted to make
a donation, they would greatly appreciate it. UCLA also has some sort
of still archive.

I am not familiar of any archive for Sony Pictures and I know it is
always a challenge when pulling films for release on DVD and they want
the old marketing material. They call the Academy or UCLA.

When I was at Fox, it was the same way. Disney has a decent archive
run by Dave Smith. But he did that all on his own and over the years
has made it into the studio archive.

Most of the Studios I have worked at or visited have the real marketing
material up on the wall. Some of it is repos (Which KILLS me) but some
of it is the real deal. I always love going to some of the buildings to
see them. Most of the stuff at Sony is in hallways out of direct sun
and out of people's offices.

Subject: [MOPO] Did the Studios keep records of their Posters/Lobby
Cards???

Mopo,

I was wondering if the studios kept records of the
promotional material used for their films. Does anyone
know?

For example, if someone from WB or Sony Pictures
wanted to look up an old poster from the 30's, could
they?

Would they still have the material used? Or at least a photograph record
of the poster/lobby card/stills from their library.
