Good for you, Alan! In my case, my 21-year old daughter has been interested in my collection from the beginning. But she's an artist/musician and runs with an "alternative" crowd, not your typical American Idol-watching zomboid, thank heaven. She really likes the exploitation stuff but is pretty open to anything as long as the art and/or title is interesting. And she understands that irony is a big factor in my collecting/selling.
There are younger people out there who appreciate this stuff, including the older stuff, they're just not in the mainstream, as it's usually defined. But are any of US in the mainstream? NOPE! And damn proud of it, too, aren't we? Hope so. I know I am. (he's so affectionate) maybe i should put him in touch with Bruce...my middle son age 22.."I think we should sell them and get a lifetime worth of box seat yankee season tickets" Maybe i could barter with Steinbrenner...well that leaves number three son..he's 17 and actually likes some of the posters but hasn't heard of the movie stars or seen the movies..with the exception of classic horror and sci-fi films...well i figure he's my best chance so this is what i did and am doing..he agreed to read the learn about movie poster book which he did so now he understands the lingo...i took him to columbus with me, some aspects of which he enjoyed...i have my posters listed and stored alphabetically..so were going through the list and i point out the posters of note...we look at ! > those posters together and we try and watch the movie from that title..he knows i like hitchcock so we started with vertigo and rear window..he asked didn't anyone else besides jimmy stewart do hithcock movies...cary g here we come. My final phase in this process will be to have him participate with me in e-bay auctions to get him invoved in the decision to buy process...i don't know how this will all turn out but its at least a glimmer of hope that my collection could be passed on and continue to the next generation...best Alan > > Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com > ___________________________________________________________________ > How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List > > Send a message addressed to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L > > The author of this message is solely responsible for its content. > Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com ___________________________________________________________________ How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List Send a message addressed to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L The author of this message is solely responsible for its content.
