Hi, Genevieve: I'm Canadian, based in Ontario. I don't ship a lot of tubes and the last tube I did mail was under the 24-inch limit you mention, so it went Small Packet Air Mail. Could be there's been a change in the regulations. As you probably know, postal rates went up Monday, so that might have been changed as well, which means those other sellers you mention may have to raise their shipping prices, too.

For the longest time they were telling me I could only ship tubes Purolator, which of course costs a fortune. Anyway, I found out on my own this was because they were measuring the tubes incorrectly to determine the shipping rate. They would measure it as though it were a box: length + width + height. They should have been measuring just the length and the diameter of the tube. It only changed after I went to the website and found the correct information. So I guess the lesson is sometimes the people who work in the post office don't even know the proper procedure themselves. Btw, what part of the country do you live in?
