I'm just curious re these public domain films. Does anyone know what the process is in releasing some of these films that you see in the discount stores ie where do they get the print of the original film and how do they go about finding the print?

Hi Michael

I've got a DVD of this and it's piss poor (to be honest) visually. Although, the audio is grand. I suspect the master this was taken from was also, a sub-standard copy and so the degradation goes on and on ....another indication of the general lack of interest in restoration, perhaps?

hi doug--

you have told me that most of your posters are stored flat. your collection is toooooooooooo great not to be displayed. most of most of my posters are displayed (67) in my tv room, although i have about 35 posters seeking wallspace---mostly awesome titles of inserts.

my 3 sheet of THE STRANGER is framed. it is bascially the same as the one sheet, except that it is ALL PURPLE in color---no lighter tones. i often think....i could take a three sheet off the wall and replace it would 9 inserts!!!

I don't own the 3SH, but do own a OS. I love the "blue" style, as a novelty for the time. "Take One False Step" also uses the blue style.

one of my favorites...... orson welles' THE STRANGER 1946 (i own the 3 sheet & it is displayed prominiently!)

(i watched it the other night, AGAIN, on channel 13 in NYC--PBS)

why is the quality of the film very cloudy, scratchy, dull ??? I have never seen a clear crisp showing of it regardless of it being on PBS, nyc or TMC (or AMC in their pre-commercial days)?

thanks
michael
