>I don't see how this is misleading at all. There is no universal definition
for "a LONG time" and I am not even saying a long time HAS gone by. I'm just
saying it is quite possible that a >long time CAN go by.. And, honestly, do
you really think anyone is swayed by this statement alone to actually make a
purchase or to bid higher than they normally would?

You do a great impersonation of Justice Stewart.

And while there might not be any "universal definition", most people when
applying it to posters would believe it to at least mean more than a week
(probably even a month). As opposed to maybe, 'it's been a long time since
I ate' which could mean this morning, which coincidently is also the last
time a Star Wars poster was posted for sale on eBay.

I guess my question would be then if you truly believe that no one is swayed
by this statement to make a purchase or bid higher, why do you continue to
use it in every auction? Wouldn't it contain more gravitas if you were to
limit its use to instances where it truly applies as Bruce suggests?
There's nothing wrong with some salesmanship, and respect from your peers
doesn't pay the bills the way selling Pretty Woman one-sheets does, but
there is something to be said for honesty without having to explain and make
exceptions for every statement.

Best,

Sean
