AOL EmailHi All
 MOPOers,

We are steadily working our way through a box of 650 daybills at the rate of
about 25 or so a day.
Condition varies as do prices. There are some interesting titles, and in some
cases they are actually titles that do not show up that often, and are going to
be for strictly specialist interest, say for B westerns collectors, WW2 movie
action collectors, British comedy collectors, film noir collectors, or even
those with even more eclectic tastes in movie posters than my wife Mila and I
have.

The one thing they all have in common is that they are originals and are
available for sale to anyone who wants to bid on them.

Here's the current ones running. If the link doesn't work, then our ID is
cinemarts

We have given up trying to deal with all the various time differences around
the world when starting our auctions, so that auctions end at a "convenient
time" (no such thing in international selling, really) so if you see something
you like, then place a bid or set a snipe when you first see it, so you don't
miss out. The number of emails at ends of auctions that start "I was going to
bid, but....." are becoming increasingly curious!

That's all folks!
Phil & Mila
(who knowingly sell to poster collectors around the world)

Subject: [MOPO] my answer to Bruce...STAR WARS STYLE C SPANISH 1SH PRINTER'S
PROOF.

        Hi Bruce,

Thanks for letting me know about the Star Wars Spanish Style C
printer’s proof, that it is not the only one. I have amended the listing.

Also, thank you….thank you…..THANK YOU!! for your free database of
actual movie poster sales results. I do use it quite a bit. In fact, before I
did the listing I checked your database to see if there were any recorded sales
of Spanish Style C printers proofs and did not see any. All that is in there
are a few entries that you sold some style C’s back in 2001 for $150.00 to
about $500.00. Your database is incomplete in this area and does NOT say they
were Spanish and it does NOT say they were printer’s proofs. Didn’t you just
sell one of the regular U.S. style C proof’s with pg ratings box at one of your
auctions recently for about $2000.00?

This one that I have is actually not one of the ones you sold
previously. This, along with several other proofs I have acquired recently have
never before been for sale.

As for starwarsmovieposter.com’s claim that there were only 200 Spanish
style c’s printed, I have no reason to doubt that. Paul Wilson (who runs the
site, and whom I spoke with before I put up the listing) knows more about Star
Wars posters than practically anybody. He was even at Star Wars Celebration in
L.A. last month at the request of Lucasfilm and gave a presentation about
original Star Wars movie posters.

I handle more original Star Wars posters than most people (not all! ;))
and I have never seen one until now. They obviously don't pop up too often.
Even the Star Wars poster book published in 2005 by Lucasfilm says it is
extremely rare with 9 out of 10 stars for scarcity and value appreciation.

As for the “years can go by without one of these coming up for sale”

That is NOT what I say.

Please check EVERY ONE of my auctions currently listed. I have not used
those words for quite some time, (at least a year). I used to, but not anymore.
What I actually say is “A LONG TIME can go by without one of these coming up
for sale”. I don't say “YEARS”.

I don't see how this is misleading at all. There is no universal
definition for “a LONG time” and I am not even saying a long time HAS gone by.
I'm just saying it is quite possible that a long time CAN go by.

Some people like to make a bigger deal out of this than it actually is.
That’s fine, but I have no plans to change it. There are plenty of people who
don't have a problem with it and think it is quite ridiculous the amount of
attention it gets. And, honestly, do you really think anyone is swayed by this
statement alone to actually make a purchase or to bid higher than they normally
would?

If you think this is worthy of a survey however, then by all means have
at it.

Bruce, you are the king, I have nothing but the greatest respect for
you. We don't have to see eye to eye on everything though do we?

For example: Awhile ago I openly banned Tom Loce from bidding on or
buying any of my items. You know as well as I do that he constantly rips off
newbies with minty white fake lobby card sets and inserts.

Why do you let Tom Loce openly bid on and buy your items? This is the
guy who blatantly sells minty white inserts as originals (didn’t you make such
a fuss about this just last week?) and this is the guy who created a fake
website and disguised himself as professor powers to try and give these fake
inserts some legitimacy.

Isn’t that just a bit hypocritical in a way?

        Dave
