Hi Peter --- PayPal can be a wonderful service, but always remember that
it is is owned by Ebay and set up to serve the needs of Ebay first and
the consumer second. Here are my recommmendations. I would set it up
with a credit card, preferably American Express because you can seek
redress against fraud from American Express when PayPal proves
unworkable. Also set up your bank account if you wish to transfer funds
to your bank account from PayPal. Otherwise I would avoid this last
option. PayPal will always try to default first to the cash balance in
your account second, to your bank account, then thirdly to your credit
card. Try to keep virtually NO balance in your account would be my
advise, since in the event of a dispute, PayPal can impound your balance
and can even retroactively draw on cash in your account. Also be
careful whom you accept PayPal payments from. Particularly be careful
with new users as they might be frauds. Try to stick with Verified
Users. Enjoy. FRANC

Subject: [MOPO] Paypal best practice

Hi all.,

First off, best poster wishes for 2008 to you all from me in Holland.

Right now I'm about an inch away from registering for a paypal account.
Some might say never go there, but the internet community seems to be
heading that way as well so I'm pretty much forced to join them.

In recent years I have seen quite a few posts here about experiences
with them, good and bad, and I was wondering what is best to set up the
account with.
I can choose to hook it to my credit card or directly to a bank account.
Should one keep a substantial balance in there or is it wiser to keep it

as low as possible.

Any thoughts on these matters and other suggestions are most welcome.

Thanks,
Peter
