I loved Johnny Depp's performance as Sweeney Todd. He did the best job this year and his chances of winning it are nil.

The whole picture I was sitting there distracted by his voice thinking he's stealing John Huston's performance from "Chinatown". Maybe he figured this was Noah Cross' early life. Many moments of the movie worked for me but I was less satisfied by the whole of it than I could have been. I thought the preacher coming in at the end (and looking like the same young man) was there only to give DDL a chance to confront him and give the picture it's ending.
