When I satred my Business in 1977.... all these posters that I see going
for big Bux.. were 3.00
matter of fact... some were 1.50... and then I satered scream in when I
had to pay 5-6.50
7.00 I was really ticked and when they hit 10.00 it better be good or
I was funing.... ala Yosemti Sam style..
The 40 x60s we could give away... Insert fooey,,,, and lobby cards just
didnt impress but the die hard collectors..
And remember we had little rolled posters,, it was most folded.... then
cam the rolled in the 80s..
sparse but we had some... and then people demanded rolled..... all the
time I said buy because you love
the art or film NOT FOR INVESTING,...... except........ the vintage as
look at that.... I passed on GWTW ( running scarlet) 600.00 as I
thought it was TOO High..:)
But some of this stuff Ill do ok not because I was smart ahhhhh
becayuse I was dumb and didnt knwo it would appreciate,,, think about that.
And if you look most collectable became collectables.. because someon
liked them when they were unvaluable...... then they became vouge,,, and
then the value raised,, interesting cycle
I bought Conan the barbarian as 1st quantity,,, then I bought like 500
sat night fever for 1.00 each
the last poster i speculated was some start wars episode 1 I had some
that Drew signed for us at the star wars celbration in Denver..
I did buy uo soe titles like superman 2 and , jewel of the nile..and others
Its been awhile as I needed to sell off like 100,000 video posters..
and other stuff...
The stuff I have left is collect quality material... the horror titles
are rare,
I like posters,,, nothing like the smell of a one sheet on a brisk
mornin..... ahhhhhh

Rich is right about that. It will end up as things did when the sold
over 3,000,000 copies of Spider-Man #1 (MacFarlane) and people started
hoarding 300 copies at a time because they thought for sure it would
go up, but didn't. I came in during my comic buying days and bought
many of those poor disillusioned folks out at a fraction of face
value. Yes, this is one to buy just because you love the movie and
want a copy for your collection but since they are selling them off
the website I am pretty certain investment value will never be a big
purchase factor.
Just my 2 coppers pennies worth.

well it looks like it has finally happened
a studio has finally figured out to sell original Theatrical posters
to the people
they have original posters for sale at that link and it says plainly
"Printed as part of the original theatrical print run"
they probably printed 250,000 of them to be able to offer them to the
public & distribute to theatres..
