I like this topic... because if anyone remembers I spoke about my gut feeling of the pre-recession

before it became media aknowledged . I remember it was before morries auction and that they had

a positive outlook... Also I was just at a booksellers shop and he showed me te profiles in history catalog

that had stills and wardrobe and props and posters that was on the 28th and he was outbid on Monroe

still that had pre-auction estimates of 200-400 sold for over 2200.00

So....... In my case I went through 2 reccession... 1 in 81- and one in the 1990 - 99 period..

The good collectables.. and what I mean is the stuff that wasnt created to be collectable.. useually

stays solid... It always seems that the ones people speculate by hype or panic buys like in 1997

the new star wars toys.. became flooded. But even reprint posters oddly can go up because the cost to mke anything has risen. People willing to take a gamble.. or that the market is small.. or that once there is interest China makes

the items so cheap and floods the market... Case in point.. Tin Robots.... You could get great reproductions

that were like 100-200 each.... then after the run the china producers made them still as low as 20.00

so the intial dealers lost there butts on the deal.. in the long run..... This seems to be the trend nowdays

is to bring container loads of about anything in and sell cheap..

I have become very optimistake that there are going to be opportinties in the future.. as many collectables will surface.. and many new ideas are becoming availible and even just selling from collector to dealer will create new oportunities.. I have several new products in the works... OPTICAL Toys pre cinema From Spain , UK and Im mking some new ones in house.. My theaory is if I just keep selling Motion picture items and network with others we can do some great commerce and make some cool collectables.. In the last months ive received orders from all over the Globe due to the weak dollar and strong EURO Ive shipped to Equador, Portugal. Brazil, Swededn, UK, Spain, Canada< ITALY, France, and have order for Japan. This telle me we are not in competition with China... as my selling point seems to be they can Buy a authentic USA made item with a the passion of the cineama industry built into it... thats my niche it appears.... so Im trying to network with like minded craftsman that are not just focusing on the dollar amount but the love and passion in the craft,,,, Yoday met some musical instument Luthiers that make beutiful hand crafted instruments.. and we oohed and ahhed about exotice woods.. Like KOA that comes from only Hawaii.. Besides making oetropes and Prxinascopes.. I plan to help lainch a Ukulele company to make Ukes from Toledo.. a ex -employee worked at the dobro guitar plant ad we both have a passion for UKES... and I came up with what I am hoping to do as A idea is that we sell these Ukes as a fundraiser for local charitys an womans health issues.. Its exciteing because we could have fun making them,,, and at same time give a purpose to helping others,,,, and the sound of a UKE is impossible to be sad hearing so its also therapy....!! win/win thats my new goal.. So im attempting to start these incubators to help others get jobs, self worth and create a synergy of optimisim/.... I am so damn excited about the prospects that I can hardly contain myself... basically.....In the last few months I have discovered that Love for mankind and people... is the most powerful networking protocal in about anything.... so.....If ivve completely gone nuts,, It feels very good,, and I like it...Its doesnt mean I can stop working or anything but I think ATTITUDE and Imagine stuff and think positive,,, Body, Mind, and Spirit.. Also... I ask God to help guide me so I can help others, Like my son and friends. with that.... and if we all get to work and follow the golden rule.. and help those brothers and siters that are in pain and disallusioned I think the world will get better, we just all need to look out for each other,,, and the planet and find solutions instead of being angry and loseing Hope. sorry for rant but all people on earth matter to me.. and id like to see all have dreams and hopes. If we all just changed a few things like treaating labor better, and teaching our kids to respect each other it could be enough to go around...I think people are woring in that direction. Its just taken us years to see the ills of our ways.. like pollution and health care and the money gougers in the houseing and finacials.
If you notice the system is cleansing itself by osmosis/

Perhaps they'll spend it on collectibles which can gain in value rather than gas which just burns. I've been driving less and combining my trips. I also try to use mass transit or walk.

Hello Saul;
I have no idea what the movie-poster collecting world is like, but as for my Monster Magazine trading world, I've found a serious decline in activity. Right now My Store is at a peak with some greatest items that I've ever had, if listed a year or two ago, would have been selling like hotcakes. Other sellers in my circle are also speaking of the decline of action. I'm glad this is just my hobby and not my bread-and-butter, otherwise I would be screwed this last month. I wish everyone luck and hope this "recession" doesn't last too much longer, however if gas prices continue to rise, it won't get any better...
   Reality Check..
