Just out of curiosity, did anyone have any experiences good or bad with the
Quinns bulk auctions that were on ebay and mentioned on MOPO back in May/June?
I gave up on them at the time, as their listings were amateur and misleading
to say the least. When they first listed, there were hardly any images,
although I noticed they added some later, sometimes a day before the end of
the
auction, and often consisting of a photo of an unopened stack of posters!! I
asked them to list titles on a few lots, but they just replied "Given the
large size of the lot, listing them would not be a realistic option" - this
was
for lots of around 40 posters. When I questioned them on specific details
about Belgian poster lots, they seemed to have a mixture of originals and
reproductions together. From some of the other replies I received, it appeared
they
had no idea about movies, let alone posters, and presumably had not even
consulted anyone - for example they didn't seem to recognise Sean Connery on
a
James Bond poster! Can only think they were doing a huge disservice to the
consignor, but their results didn't look too bad in the end, perhaps following
the live auction stage.
So I was wondering whether anyone on MOPO took a risk and was pleasantly
surprised, either as collector or dealer?
