Good to hear you came out of it well Peter, and the posters were in good
condition - condition was another thing that was practically impossible to
find
out on some lots. With regard to lobbies, I got quite excited when I saw This
Island Earth lobby set in one of the descriptions, but I think that was an
example of a reissue set. The pile o' poster pics reminded me of stories of
people buying posters blind by the inch in the 60s and 70s! As a poster
enthusiast, probably the most frustrating thing was wondering whether there
were any
real discoveries in those anonymous mounds of paper, as there were some nice
titles scattered amongst the more detailed lots.

Paul,

I took a chance on an insert lot which fortunately had several pictures so I
could judge the condition for myself. Luckily my lowball bid passed muster
because I wasn't going to go out on a limb with so little info, although I
did go 1 of 6 in bidding success so others were clearly less risk averse than
I
was. Was pleasantly surprised by the quality packing job as I was worried
their...casualness... might extend to shipping. Posters turned out to be in
good shape too.

Pretty sure there were a couple of scores for bidders but I think others who
took more of a chance might have been disappointed. I understand many of
the titles that *were* actually given in the lot were actually re-issues or
lesser scene cards, so if the buyer was hoping these would help out their
"advanced" bids they were going to be bitterly disappointed.

Those who attended in person (or knew someone who did) were at a decided
advantage. I did like that picture of the pile o' posters!
