You guys are of course right, I made a mistake yesterday. The NRC tag is a giveaway, this is a re-release.

However, Warner-Seven Arts only existed from 1967-69 (then it became Warner Communications), and I find it quite odd, that they used the old company name on 1970s poster.

Another example from the time (where the changed the info) would be BULLITT: The original daybill has the W7 logo, while the re-release (also one-color) has the round 'W' logo in the bottom.

Helmut

Yes, that one is a reissue. The original is full colour and quite rare.

Regards
John

Hi David,

Think you missed out the link to your auction, but assume this question relates to Bruce's query. The experts in Oz would certainly be able to confirm, but I think this is a re-release daybill - NRC censorship rating was only used after 1971 - <http://australianscreen.com.au/chronology/1970s/>http://australianscreen.com.au/chronology/1970s/ . I seem to remember there is a full-colour original release. There are a few daybills where rating gives away a re-release on otherwise very similar posters - Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid is common example. The G rating on your War of the Worlds auction would also imply it is 1970s re-release or later.

Paul
