I had the same problem with a different restorer a couple of years ago. I can't
remember the exact name so I won't say. I won the restoration service on MPB at
a very low rate. I paid the winning bid amount and the posters to the
gentleman. After about six weeks or so I ask where the posters were and he said
he had had heart problems, but would get them done in a month or so. After six
months and endless emails and some phone calls, from me and Richard H going the
extra mile by trying to contact the person still no results. I finally had to
resort to filing complaints with local law enforcement and FTC. It several
months, but I did get my posters back undone. Despite being promised, I never
received any money back. I was happy to get at least the posters back. It is
very frustrating and scary to not know if you are going to get your posters
back from someone you to whom you have entrusted them.
I appreciate the heads up, since I am looking at getting several items
linenback soon.
MOPOers do have to be careful on attacks. When I first joined MOPO I was
roasted with false accusations and false stories about me in jealous outrages
because I had found a rare poster. I was warned about this if I joined, but
still took the risk. Just make sure you are stating facts and not rumors.
Andrea's sounds like a useful and justified post to me.
