hi all - there are a least two inserts for Anatomy Of A Murder [1959], one in
white with the Saul Bass logo up top and a Miracle Worker-style blurred,
screaming face below it, plus there's a yellow insert featuring a sketch of Lee
Remick similar to that featured on the book-tie-in, Style A, 1-sheet.  It may
well be that there are further sketch inserts featuring the other characters,
but I have not come across them.  Perhaps someone has a pressbook and can
confirm?  There are also 3 half-sheets for this title: the Saul Bass motif on
its own, the "venetian blinds" style and a very rare red & white book-tie-in
version that I had never seen until Heritage sold it earlier this year, cheers,
neil

You are correct. I don't know the artist of the "mean cat" style insert, but
there is a cool one sheet with Gould in a doorway that is signed by Bob Peak
(but I don't think Peak drew the "mean cat").

There were a ton of different cool posters on this campaign (no doubt because
of Robert Altman, and maybe Mike Kaplan's, involvement).

Marty Davis is an Altman nut and he should know about this, but I don't think
he posts here except for "For Sale" posts!

There were a bunch of these multiple insert styles in the 1970s, as I stated in
my first reply, but Michael's first post asked about the 1940s and 1950s, and I
can't recall a single time in either of those decades where there is more than
one first release insert on a single movie.

Hey Bruce--
I know there were three different styles of the Long Goodbye one-sheet.
They were the Jack Davis art, the Amsel art, and the super rare mean cat (I
forget that artist's name).
Weren't all three styles of the insert available also?

"how rare were inserts from the 40s/50s with two stylrs"

Even MORE rare than an eBay seller saying a poster looks WORSE than his digital
image!

I vaguely remember one or two inserts from the 1930s where there were two
different, and there are a few 1970s ones that are marked "Style B", and of
course there are titles like "The Long Goodbye" where there are two different
inserts, both with great images, but that's about all I can think of.

Maybe some experts in rare styles, like Tony Nourmand or Joe Burtis can
remember some examples.
