Although I agree with you in general I do think that the provenance of
the Johnny Ramone collection bears weight combined with the fact that
Heritage has described the condition quite specifically. Maybe Johnny
Ramone or his widow had set specific conditions to auction the whole
collection or the sentimental value apparently held by its previous
owner.
Then again I also think that a poster where only 2 of the 12 letters
of the title are original should not be graded as "fair". I think it
should not have gotten a grading at all, but sold for what it was, a
reconstructed poster and not a restored one.

responsible and highly-regarded auction house catering to the very
well-to-do and regularly selling tens of millions of dollars of high-
priced collectibles every year would have taken it upon themselves
to include a high resolution picture of the title card along with
the half sheet auction so that the bidders could have made the
comparison themselves at the time of the sale.
But I guess I'm just being naive... despite the cries of shock and
horror over the last few days, "let the buyer beware" is still the
Golden Rule in our society.
