i think many were assuming it was a photograph of an original one sheet. others assumed someone created a painting of some kind, which would have been more costly and prone to minor errors (color, shading, etc).

Just to clarify. The reproduction of the Cavalcade o/s in the Academy's collection is a photograph sized 41x27. It is not a painting or recreation but was produced in the late 1980s from an original that was in an institutional collection. The whereabouts of the original o/s from which our reproduction was produced are not known.
