I always knew there was one out there…I just didn’t know where.

In fact, I swear that Bruce sold it in about 1992 during one of his “leave a
message on my telephone” auctions. He doesn’t remember (which I’m sure
means that I’m wrong), but I vividly remember seeing the one sheet picture
in the catalogue he used to send out before telephone bidding began. As I
recall, it was priced at about $1,500-2,000 and I thought “I’ll wait to buy
an expensive poster like that. I’m sure I can pick it up another time.”
LOL

I was such a dope when I first started my collection. I passed up so many
great posters (including the impossible to find Mrs. Miniver in NM condition
for $750 from the G. Nelson collection) thinking that I’d buy the
inexpensive ones first because I could get so many more for my money. Then
I’d come back later and buy all the expensive ones. (I eventually found
another Mrs. Miniver, VF, but it took YEARS AND YEARS!)

I passed on NM Casablanca OS’s at $2,000, $3,000, $3,500, etc until I
finally paid $9,000 for one in Fine condition. Man, I was a naïve beginner
collector!

I was lucky enough to grab the only original 1939 GWTW Style CF (plume
style) OS I’ve ever seen outside the Academy in NM condition for $7,500,
though. Even a blind squirrel occasionally finds an acorn.

Just to clarify. The reproduction of the Cavalcade o/s in the Academy's
collection is a photograph sized 41x27. It is not a painting or recreation
but was produced in the late 1980s from an original that was in an
institutional collection. The whereabouts of the original o/s from which
our reproduction was produced are not known.
