While I think its kind of fun to read fan-boy dismissals of Cameron's latest....in fact I have read comparisons liking it to Fern Gully meets Dances With Wolves which arguably a case could be made. But I think one has to give Cameron the benefit of the doubt and allow him the chance to present his world, and to view it in the format he is intending (a revolutionary 3D presentation.) While I may have originally been a bit taken aback by the Navi (those blue characters) the world Cameron has placed them in has me completely intrigued. And the animal creatures I thought looked really great. Remember, Yoda originally looked a little silly, ET looked like a mutant turtle in search of a shell, the prawns in DISTRICT 9 looked truly derivative, and specific to Cameron, literally days before the exhibitor screenings of TITANIC no less than the NY Times and Time Magazine were predicting a cinematic sinking the likes never seen in history. It remains for me the most anticipated film of the Holidays with UP IN THE AIR second. ALVIN AND THE CHIMPMUNKS: THE SQUEAKLE ..........not so much freeman In a message dated 11/27/2009 10:58:27 A.M. Does anyone else in this group think that the animation and overall concept of the James Cameron movie AVATAR look really cheesy?
