Where did you hear that? It's true that AVATAR was originally conceived
in 1994, but everything I've seen indicates that once the technology was
proven that Cameron decided shoot the live action with the digital 3-D
"Fusion Camera System", developed by Cameron and Vince Pace. See the
picture on page two of this Popular Mechanics article:
