Apart from it not having the robot, the insert is off the model generally - the design of the poster doesn't resemble the architecture of the city of the future at all. Interstingly, the insert is along the lines of the colour scheme of the art featured in the international Ufa product book for the film, art which I have seen nowhere else.
While the insert is an important American piece for the film's US release (in a greatly re-edited form from even the German general release version) and is as scarce as hen's teeth, I'm inclined to think the $40k might be about right. Personally, I would have been surprised if it had gone to $100k - it's a pretty poster, but sans robotrix and defining deco art that reflects the look or feel of the film, it's a disapointing design.
